the "Puppy"

Sorry for the confusion, dear readers. When we found out we were pregnant, we decided to call the baby "the new Puppy" since we weren't planning to tell many people until later in our pregnancy and needed sort of a code name. We decided on "Puppy" since we were adding to our "pack" of Schatzi and Doc. And, we often joke that raising an infant is similar to raising a puppy...crate training (sleeping in a crib...hopefully, through the night), potty training (self-explanatory), positive reinforcement...well, you get the idea. And, since we're not finding out the baby's sex until the baby's actually born, we need a gender-neutral name to get us through the next five months.

Congratulations on the new "puppy" Jen and Joe! I'm so happy for you both. Also, on the Christmas tree--the first year we got Penny we had to give up on a real tree, too. We ended up putting up a fake tree with a minimum of (disposable) ornaments that she could chew on to her heart's content. ;o) Hopefully the new puppy won't be born with quite so many teeth...

I know you are very busy being pregnant and that your husband is very busy taking care of a pregnant woman, but Noah would like to see more pictures of Schatzi and Doc. We'll trade you for more pictures of Noah. Deal?

I like your name--very cute and a lot more creative than the many others I've heard lately...(lots of pregnant coworkers...both at the old & the new job)

Kevin...I'll work on getting more pics up of the cogs.

Mandy M...Thanks for the empathy about the Christmas tree. I hope my "Puppy" certainly doesn't have the same chewing capabilities, or it won't be nursing!

Glad I am not totally crazy! I spent a while scrolling through "back-issues" of the blog, trying to figure out where exactly Puppy was first mentioned. We are still trying to decide the puppy/kid/tree problem for the holidays here (and no, I'm not coding something here involving family planning). Between a 1 1/2 yr old niece and the collie pup, I think nothing will be sacred :)

Ok, the tree I get! But waiting until the kid is born to find out! Kudos to you if you can do it! I never could! If you know at five months or nine months you still love them just the same...and are a bit more prepared! KC needed to know because he said if we were having girls he needed to take the extra time and "get used to the idea"! Like he had a choice!!!And more shots of the dogs would be awesome!
