Henry's 7 month bear pictures

Dear Henry,

You are very much a third child. Your mama and daddy have been overwhelmed with the day-to-day tasks of feeding, clothing, and bathing three children that we missed taking your 5th and 6th month bear pictures entirely. That's the way things go, I guess. You seem happy that we prioritized feeding and bathing you over taking the bear pictures, but your babyhood is flying by far too quickly and we need some documentation! So, last night, amidst the rush of bedtime, I drug out the bear and the sheet we use as a backdrop. Sam had to do his nightly round of kindergarten homework with Dad, so ND and I set up our photo shoot and plopped you into position.
You weren't too sure at first. It was bedtime after all and you just wanted me to snuggle you. But, ND showed you how to pose and smile and soon you were your usual happy self. We are all so thankful that you are such a happy guy. You are starting to let us know when you are unhappy with things, but we can usually cheer you up just by picking you up; if we could hold you all day, I think you would never cry...ever. You find your brother and sister hilarious. Sam started burping at the table and at first, we admonished him for his rude manners, but then you started laughing loudly...now, when you are sad, I say, "Quick, Sam, burp!". We'll do anything to make you laugh...it's such a great sound.

You recently had your 6 month well child check and are off the growth charts! You are 28 inches long (over 95th percentile) and 19lbs 13oz (95th percentile). Your obsession with eating has slowed down a little now that you can sit up and reach for things, wiggle and roll, and just interact with your world more. You've found your voice and babble away, inserting yourself into the nightly din around the table. You are loving solid foods, although not as fanatically as your big brother did. You like most foods, but we fed you peas (twice) and you tried to throw them back up. Definitely not a favorite.
Open mouthed kisses, hugs, and patting your hands on us show us all how much you like your family. Sometimes your patting turns to pinching and scratching, which makes you less popular with your siblings. Just like Sam, you like to scratch my skin while you are nursing to sleep. What is with that? Silly boys.

Speaking of sleep, we wish you'd be better at it. We started working on sleep training at our house earlier this month and it seemed to be going well. After a few days of crying at bedtime, you were going to sleep on your own as long as we swaddled you and gave you a binky. Then, I took the big kids on a trip to Seattle and left you with Dad...and you got croup. :( Now we are battling nighttime coughing and sadness. We hope you will be on the mend soon.
Henry, my little man, I don't know where the last 7 months have gone. Slow down...you are just a baby. All too soon, you will be mobile and chasing after your big siblings. Dad and I are trying to enjoy every sweet baby moment with you that we can.

Love, Mom and Dad
